Well you can.
Metron offers a variety of retrofit solutions which enable you to install Prism registers on your existing third-party meters, giving them a new lease of life without the cost of replacing the meter bodies. Installation is quick and simple, and data starts flowing into WaterScope® immediately.

Data integration can go both ways
- If you’re deploying Metron meters and WaterScope is your primary water data platform (it should be – it’s the most powerful in the industry!), we can build integrations that pull data from third-party platforms into WaterScope.
- Or, if you prefer to use a third-party data platform, we can set it up to pull in data from your Metron meters and retrofitted meters.
Retrofit Adapters
For meters which couple magnetically to top-mounted registers, Metron has a range of adapter rings which make mounting Prism registers easy. Standard brass meters from major manufacturers can be retrofitted in this way, turning them instantly into smart cellular meters.

3-Wire Meters
For meters with an existing register that provides a standard 3-wire output, the cellular Prism R register connects directly to capture water flow data every minute of every day. The wires can be provided bare (as shown below) or terminated with a specific connector if required by the application.
Other Monitoring Solutions
For meters which don’t provide a 3-wire output, and which don’t provide the top-mounting magnetic coupling, Metron offers two products which provide the flexibility needed to make the connection: Prism EXT and Prism WS.
Prism EXT
The Prism EXT uses a sophisticated magnetic sensor to capture water flow information from third-party meters. This allows a property manager to see consumption data (using WaterScope) in cases where the meter’s existing register is in use by the water utility.
Prism WS
The Prism WS is a cellular monitor/register for existing water meters, using a magnetic sensor to capture water usage data. Easy to install and calibrate, it’s ideal for per-zone and per-building monitoring, as well as commercial and industrial applications.
